Welcome to my webpage. I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Mrs. Martino and I have been here at Thompson for fifteen years. I know these are challenging times but know that we will get through this together. I will be teaching eighth grade Pre-algebra and Algebra 1 this year as well as administering the Math Contests before school or virtually depending on how the school year is going. Please click on the "Math Contests" title above to see the dates for this year's math contests (this will be updated shortly).
I would like to share a little of my background with you. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, in Kings Point, NY. I worked for eight years as a nuclear engineer overhauling U.S. Navy submarines at a shipyard in New Hampshire. I then returned to school for a Masters degree in Education and now enjoy teaching. It is a pleasure to be able to work with such wonderful students at Thompson.
I will be using this webpage as well as Google Classroom to keep you up to date on homework and quizzes/tests. My goal is for all the students to feel good about their math skills and be successful. I am available for extra help any morning after 7:30 and afternoons based on appointment, except on mornings of Math Contests. You can see these dates by clicking on the above tab for Math Contests (to be updated shortly). If you know you need help you can let me know ahead of time or you are always welcome to just stop in and I will assist you.
Again, welcome to my class. I am looking forward to a fun, rewarding, and informative year for all of my students.
